Have had several people ask what exactly is involved in an ASD. While I've known about Julia's condition for a few years now, I have to admit that even though I've tried to absorb all the specifics from our many MD appts., I realize my mind must have been speeding a million miles trying to process everything. Most things are a blur by the time we leave. That's why it's been nice to have my cool, calm and collected husband, Jim, at these sessions. He does a lot better job taking in all of the info and asking the right questions!! It's hard for most people who know Julia to believe that she actually has an ASD because she is so energetic -- Tasmanian Devil energetic. She's one of those patients who hasn't presented any symptoms and seems very healthy. They tell us that once this ASD is repaired, she will have even more pep! Yup. And, the rest of us will be upping our vitamins!

At any rate, here is all you could ever want to know about an ASD from Children's Medical Center's Web site for those who want the specific details.

https://www.childrens.com/HealthLibrary/HealthLibContent.cfm?pageid=P01766

When you pull up this page and scroll through the information, you will see a photo of a physician with an infant to the right. This is Dr. Forbess. I feel so fortunate that we were able to secure a spot for Julia on his surgery schedule. His services are very, very much in demand. I know that our Houston physician, Dr. Nugent, must have been instrumental in helping us to do this. I am very thankful to both!

We're a week away from Julia's hospital appointment. Her spirits are great; she's eagerly looking forward to putting this all behind her.

Thanks for all of your prayers and good wishes. We are very blessed to be surrounded by so many wonderful friends and family members.

Dag

Good Evening Ms. Julia:
In case you don't remember me, I work with your mommy at PCCA and I sit at the front desk. I want you to know that we will be thinking and praying for you throughout your hospital stay and until you fully recover.
I love your blog!! It's so colorful and I understand you are having fun getting it all set up. This is a great idea. We all want to stay in touch and see how you and your family are doing up in Dallas. We'll be reading your blog everyday..take care and God bless you!

Hi Julia!!

Love your blog! I'm forwarding it over to Dr. Lora and her staff, Lisa and Vivian (my other sister and mom), so they can check it out, too! We're all thinking of you and can't wait to see your smiling face again...except Dr. Lora says you better not have any cavities next time you see her!! :)

Be sure and make everyone wait on you hand and foot while you're recuperating - take advantage of this "me" time over the next several days! As I always say...it's always good to milk things for all they're worth...just kidding...don't tell your Mom and Dad I said that :).

See you soon, kiddo. Keep us up to speed on your blog. We're all thinking of you!

Amy (the Longhorn fanatic who sits next to your Mom at work!)

Dear Julia - Hi Sweetie! What a cool looking blog! You are in my prayers, and I know everything will go well. I look forward to seeing you and you can tell me all about it. I see in your blog that you like the Fairy books your Omi sends you - which one is your favorite. Take care, love, Charlotte

Hi, Julia:
Grandma and I want you to know that we are praying and thinking of you during this time. Your name is also listed on the prayer list at church.
We are looking forward to your rapid recovery when you'll have MORE ENERGY. Your parents and Taylor had better take some tonic and start running sprints so they can keep up with you.
This blog that you and your Mom have created is wonderful.
Grandma and I have no idea how to make anything this elaborate. We can barely figure out how to find our way to it and send you this message.
Don't supervise the doctors too much. And don't fire any of the nurses until you get all the help and attention you deserve from them.
Your Omi is going to keep us informed of you progress and we will also watch this blog for your unique comments and colorful reports.

We love you,
Grandpa (and Grandma)

Hey Julia,
Don't you just love the hospital food? Yummy. Well OK maybe not so good but it has to be better than your mom's cooking. ;-) Give our love to everyone and we'll be seeing you soon.
Love,
Uncle Erik and Aunt Carol
